Fransons Venture: A Family-Driven Green Enterprise Growing for theFuture

There is something particularly meaningful about an enterprise built across generations.Fransons Venture, led by Margaret Wanjiru and her mother, is exactly that: a family-drivengreen business with roots in the community and a clear vision for sustainable growth.Based within the PINCA-Y cohort's operational area, Fransons Venture focuses on theproduction of indigenous and exotic tree seedlings, alongside honey, fish and fingerlings. Incombining ecological restoration through seedling production with food systems throughaquaculture and apiculture, the enterprise covers a broad and complementary range ofnatural resource-based activities. The addition of landscaping services further extendstheir reach, enabling them to shape greener and more resilient physical environments forclients.
The story of a mother and daughter working side by side to build a business is one ofdedication, shared values and intergenerational commitment. It reflects the kind ofcommunity-embedded entrepreneurship that the PINCA-Y program was designed tosupport: enterprises that are not just economically driven but rooted in relationships, placeand purpose. Margaret's leadership of the enterprise, alongside her mother, also representsan important dimension of women's agency in green enterprise, something Mt Kenya Hubis committed to championing.
