From Nyeri to the Moon: Kenyan innovators on a global stage.

From 22 to 31 August 2026, Teresiah and Mirigo represented Kenya at the National Workshop at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, India.

They designed and assembled a mini satellite equipped with sensors for temperature, pressure, altitude and GPS. They also integrated LoRa communication for data transmission and tested their satellite through a parachute deployment system.

The experience went beyond building hardware. It gave them the opportunity to analyse real data, solve problems with young innovators from different countries and experience what it means to build for space.

They also had the honour of being hosted by H.E. Peter Munyiri, Kenya's High Commissioner to India, at the Kenya High Commission residence.

Their journey is a powerful reminder of what young Kenyan innovators can achieve when they have access to the right opportunities, mentorship and global platforms.
