Organic waste is one of agriculture's most underutilised resources. Griincom Innovate, ledby George Mmbaka and based in Gilgil, Nakuru, is changing that. Through Black SoldierFly (BSF) farming, the enterprise converts organic waste into affordable organic fertiliser, making sustainable inputs more accessible to smallholder farmers in the region. At a timewhen the cost of synthetic fertiliser places enormous pressure on small-scale farminghouseholds, Griincom's approach offers a locally-produced, environmentally soundalternative that supports both farm productivity and soil health.
George and his team are not only focused on production. Griincom Innovate is activelyseeking partnerships with institutions and organisations to expand farmer supportnetworks and extend their reach across the region. This focus on collaboration reflects amature understanding of what it takes to scale impact in agriculture: production alone isnot enough. Sustained change requires building ecosystems of support, knowledge andmarket access for the farmers being served.
Griincom Innovate is one of 26 enterprises participating in the PINCA-Y 2026 cohort, aprogram implemented by Mt Kenya Hub with the support of DanChurchAid Kenya. Theprogram champions circular economy enterprises that address real agricultural andenvironmental challenges, and Griincom is a strong example of what that looks like in
practice. We are proud to have them in the cohort and encourage you to learn more abouttheir work at griincom.co.ke.
