Virtuous Achievers Women Group: From 10 Members to a Thriving GreenEnterprise

Some enterprises begin with a belief before they begin with a business. For VirtuousAchievers Women Group, that belief was simple but powerful: that women, given the right
support, can grow anything. Co-led by Coursity Kipkenei and Sheila Chesire, this women-led enterprise in the Rift Valley has turned that belief into an extraordinary reality. Whatstarted in 2023 with just 10 members has grown into a collective of over 80 womenproducing fruit seedlings and supplying them to individual farmers, community membersand buyers through referrals. Their capacity has grown from 10,000 seedlings to 50,000 todate, and the group now engages over 1,000 farmers across the region.
The financial trajectory of Virtuous Achievers Women Group tells an equally compellingstory. With current revenues surpassing KES 5 million and a clear pathway toward KES 15million within three years, the group is not just growing in membership but in economicpower. For many of the women involved, this enterprise represents far more than income. Itrepresents independence, dignity and the ability to provide for their families in ameaningful and sustainable way. The founder's own story, of rising from difficult personalcircumstances to lead a thriving collective, gives the group's work a depth and a purposethat goes well beyond agriculture.
